Martin Headman is a composer, arranger,
pianist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist and entertainer.
As an honor student at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music,
Headman studied under composer in residence Michael Gibbs and Jazz
master Gary Burton. With over twenty-five years of concert, club
and studio experience, Martin speaks fluently through the full spectrum
of musical styles.
Having toured with the Brubeck Brothers, he has also performed in
concert with Jazz greats: guitarist Bruce Forman's bassist Kyle
Eastwood; cellist Fred Katz of the Chico Hamilton Quartet; flutist
Tim Wiseberg; tenor saxophonist Virginia Mayhew and guitarist Russell
Malone. A popular solo performer, Headman has opened for Taj Mahal,
Dr. John, Mose Allison, Willie Dixon, Asleep At The Wheel and John
Hiatt.
In 1998, Martin performed a set of original compositions with his
jazz quartet opening the 41st Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. Martin
was also featured at the Monterey Blues Festival in 1990, 1991 and
2004.
An ASCAP award recipient from 1997 through 2008, Headman has created
and published a large repertoire of compositions that are rich,
inventive and timeless. Actively participating in the Monterey Bay
music scene since 1980, Headman is currently featured at The Inn
at Spanish Bay, Pebble Beach, as well as at Bernardus Lodge in Carmel
Valley.
