Michael Culver is an extremely gifted
musician whose performance creates an elegant ambiance for any special
occasion.
Classically trained, with a keen sense of rhythm and tone, Mike
was raised in Ohio, where he majored in music performance and played
percussion for the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.
A grant from the National Endowment for the Arts brought him to
Los Angeles to study and perform Jazz on the vibraphone. During
the Monterey Jazz Festival he studied under the renowned Latin style
vibraphonist, Cal Tjader. His involvement in the California music
circuit led to his love of the harp. Michael later studied at the
Cleveland Conservatory of Music, which gave him a smooth classical
technique and flexibility to play harps from around the world.
While living on the Monterey Peninsula he traveled to Europe to
perform in Germany and Austria. This tour culminated with performances
in Vienna and at the prestigious Mozart Festival in Salzburg. He
also played with Chamber Music Northwest in Portland and locally
with the Hidden Valley Music Seminars and Monterey Symphony.
Mike's versatility and joy of playing comes through with every note.
His smooth, soothing sound and classical touch delight all who hear
him.
He is available as a solo artist, and also performs as a duet with
flute, and as a trio with flute and cello. Another delightful option
is Michael playing
Jalisco (Mexican) harp.
