"At 7 p.m. sharp, Hot Club Pacific swung into action. And I do mean
swung. This tight trio of Marc Schwartz, Jack Fields and Matt Bohn
- on guitars and bass, respectively - cranked out some of the best
Django Reinhardt-style hot jazz I've heard in a long while."

Hot Club Pacific, the premier Gypsy
Jazz ensemble in the Monterey Bay area, is proudly keeping the legacy
of the great Django Reinhardt alive. HCP plays with a traditional
Gypsy "la Pompe" rhythm, but the melodies (and improvisations) have
a modern jazz sound, incorporating many jazz styles that have come
along since the time of Django. The result is a fusion of styles
that has the infectious toe tapping, finger snapping rhythm of the
past, and at the same time, the melodic sound of today.
The band has played at many important Jazz festivals including Djangofest
Northwest, Downtown Berkeley Jazz Festival, Djangofest San Francisco,
San Jose Tapestry Arts Festival, Djangofest LA and more.
Hot Club Pacific was formed in 2005. The core of the band is a duo
of guitar players with an obsession for guitars and Gypsy Jazz.
Marc Schwartz has played guitar since 1968. He holds a B.A. in music
from New York University and has studied with studio/Jazz guitar
greats Allen Hanlon and Milt Norman. When not playing with Hot Club
Pacific, Marc can be found playing jazz guitar in various Northern
California venues.
Jack Fields started playing guitar in high school punk, surf and
hard rock bands. His early influences include The Sex Pistols, The
Ventures, Rush and Johnny Cash. Later musical influences include
Charlie Christian and T-Bone Walker. Jack began his study of Jazz
Manouche in the early 1990's. By the mid-nineties, he was fully
immersed in the style, to the chagrin of all of his other musician
friends who were still playing rock and blues.
Bassist Matt Bohn rounds out the trio. He began playing in 1975
and has played professionally since the age of 16. Between his early
20's and 30's he played a veritable smorgasbord of styles including
world beat, blues, folk, bluegrass and western swing. The last 10
years he has spent honing his jazz chops. His hard swinging, well-phrased,
bass lines compliment the Gypsy Jazz repertoire.
The trio is often joined by clarinetist Dale Mills, and/or violinist
Ben Cortez.
Members of the band have performed with Larry Coryell, Bruce Forman,
Mimi Fox, Howard Alden, Andreas Oberg, Tony Green, Paul Mehling,
Ninine Garcia and many others.
Hot Club Pacific loves to play for private functions and corporate
events.
