"Guitarist Kevin McDowell is one father who really spends quality
time with his children - strong musicianship and a true appreciation
of music are being repeated in the next generation. Older sister
Lydia shines on violin. She has been perfecting her playing since
she was 3 1/2. Younger sister Mona also began playing violin when
she was a toddler, but switched to cello at the ripe old age of
4 1/2."

Dancing on Strings is a most extraordinary family trio that has
been performing music in the Monterey Bay Area since 1987.
Leader and father Kevin McDowell has been playing guitar for over
three decades. He studied with such notables as Benjamin Verdery,
David Tanninbaum, Mark Teicholtz and Pepe Romero. Kevin has also
been teaching privately for 25 years, and is currently the Professor
of Guitar at Bethany College in Scotts Valley, California, as well
as the Guitar Instructor at Monterey Bay Academy in Aptos, CA.
Sisters Lydia on violin and Mona on cello complete the ensemble.
The girls have been playing since toddlerhood.
The elements of family, virtuosity, style and the unique combination
of guitar, violin and cello have produced rave reviews about their
lush full sound that often gives the impression of a larger chamber
ensemble.
Along with their gorgeous music, Dancing on Strings also bring with
them a professional and artistic sensibility that will enhance any
occasion.
From Bach to Rock, you'll hear it all like you've never heard it
before!
Kevin is also available in a solo
format.
