Susan Egan has traversed
all four corners of the entertainment industry, making powerful
impressions in theatre, film, television and music.
Egan starred on Broadway in the title role of "Thoroughly Modern
Millie" at the Marquis Theatre in Times Square. She has also won
critical acclaim on Broadway as 'Sally Bowles' in "Cabaret," in
"Triumph of Love" and "State Fair," and most notably, as the original
'Belle' in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," garnering Tony and Drama
Desk nominations for "Best Actress." Among her regional credits,
Egan starred alongside Carol Burnett in "Putting It Together" at
the Mark Taper Forum, Tommy Tune in the national tour of "Bye, Bye
Birdie," and reprised her role of Belle for the Los Angeles premiere
of "Beauty and the Beast." She has also performed in concert with
dozens of symphony orchestras across the country including three
engagements at the Hollywood Bowl.
Susan has also been busy in film, having been featured in a number
of award-winning independent productions, as well as taking the
lead in such films as "Gotta Kick It Up" for the Disney Channel.
In animation, Egan gave the sultry voice to 'Meg' in Disney's "Hercules,"
sang the role of Angel in "Lady and the Tramp II," and rendered
'Lin' English for the American release of the Japanese blockbuster
"Spirited Away," which won the 2003 Academy Award for Best Animated
Feature. Egan has also recorded the English translation for another
Miyazaki film, "Porco Rosso," which was released in 2004.
On television, Egan spent two seasons on the WB's "Nikki," and has
appeared on "NYPD Blue," "Party of Five," "Drew Carey," "Partners,"
"All My Children," "Loving," and "Great Performances: Rodgers and
Hart," and many other television series, as well as movies of the
week and specials for ABC, CBS, and the Disney Channel.
Egan's third solo CD, "Coffee House", was recently released on LML
Records and has received high critical praise. She can be heard
on over thirty other recordings for Fynsworth Alley, JAY, Disney
compilation disks, and a variety of Broadway cast recordings and
motion picture soundtracks.
