Don't be fooled
by imitations! There are several groups calling themselves "Bill
Haley's Comets" containing one or two people who were with Bill
in the 60's or 70's. The Original Comets are the only group consisting
entirely of original members of the world's first Rock & Roll
band, Bill Haley and the Comets.

On August 7, 1955, Rock & Roll music was introduced
to U.S. television viewers when Bill Haley and the Comets performed
their number one hit record "Rock Around the Clock" on Ed Sullivan's
"Toast of the Town" TV show. More than 35 years later, the same
Comets (minus Bill Haley, who died in 1981) are back and better
than ever, playing their classic Rock & Roll to new generations
of audiences the world over.
Bill Haley and the Comets were synonymous with fifties Rock &
Roll. Their million-selling hits such as "Rock Around the Clock,"
"Shake, Rattle & Roll," "Crazy Man" & "See You Later Alligator",
and a string of Rock & Roll films including "Roundup of Rhythm,"
"Rock Around the Clock," and "Don't Knock the Rock" plus record-breaking
tours of Great Britain and Australia in 1957 (the first American
Rock & Roll act to tour these countries), as well as Germany,
Austria, France, Belgium and Italy in 1959 firmly established
them as the world's first Rock & Roll band. Bill Haley continued
performing in the U.S. and abroad throughout the sixties and seventies,
while the original members of his band gradually left show business
to pursue other interests.
In
October 1987, The Original Comets -- Franny Beecher (lead guitar),
Johnny Grande (piano), Joey Ambrose (tenor sax), Dick Richards
(drums) and Marshall Lytle (bass) reunited.
Since then, The Original Comets have made several tours of the
U.S., Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain.
They also headlined the third Annual Benefit dinner "It's Only
Rock And Roll" on March 21, 2003 at the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame in Cleveland, and have released two CDs, "We're Gonna Party"
(1992) and "You're Never Too Old to Rock" (1996).
Their act includes the familiar Haley hits as well as feature
numbers spotlighting each member's vocal and instrumental talents,
and several of the acrobatic stage routines they pioneered in
the 1950's. They are living proof that Rock & Roll is the
fountain of youth!
