Typical Set-Up of a Bocce Court
in One of Our Local Hotels |
For a fun event
you'll never forget, contact Kelly Productions for a Bocce Ball
Tournament, complete with court & balls, referees, Italian music,
costumes and customized prizes!
Upon entering the room (or the little Italian village), guests are
greeted with authentic Italian music from The
Monterey International Trio (accordion, bass and violin, or
vocalist). The Bocce Boys, officials who will conduct the evening's
festivities, will already be in action.
Guests will soon be curious onlookers. They then will be invited
to take some practice throws, as well as be given some basic Bocce
lessons. They soon find that Bocce is fun and easy to play, as they
assemble four-person teams. The teams will be called over to begin
competition, at which time the rules will be explained.
With much fanfare, the semi-final and final rounds are played as
all of your guests surround the court to cheer for their favorite
teams. The winners can receive special Bocce hats with company name
(if enough time is allowed). Everyone has a great time!!
About Bocce
The game of Bocce, somewhat like horseshoes and
somewhat like bowling, is Italy's most popular recreation. Bocce
is played by two teams, with four players per team. There are eight
large balls (four for each team) and one small target ball called
the "jack." The object of the game is to roll the large Bocce ball
as close to the jack as possible. Each succeeding player tries either
to roll their Bocce Ball nearer the target jack than their preceding
opponent or displace the opponent's Bocce Ball and so improve the
position of their Bocce Ball in relation to the jack. The play continues
in turn until all of the balls have been played. Each ball that
is closer to the target ball than the nearest ball of the opposing
team scores one point.
Tournament play is run on up to three courts, depending on the total
number of attendees.
Court size: 10' x 45' (2 courts - 20' x 45', 3 courts - 30' x 45')
