Disc Jockey & Master of Ceremonies
DJ Peter Burkhard's experience as
a Mobile Disc Jockey began during his college years while performing
at frat and dorm parties in the late '70s. After graduation, Peter
continued to DJ parties on weekends and in 1983 he discovered the
booming wedding reception business on the Monterey Peninsula. Since
then Peter has averaged 80+ wedding receptions a year at all the
popular venues in the area.
Peter prides himself on his knowledge of almost all types of music.
"We are currently in the midst of an explosion of great Hip Hop
and Dance Music. There is so much great new music as well as Old
School and Classics, that it is easy for me to keep everyone from
Grandma to the Grandkids out on the dance floor. That's what I love
so much about the job." Peter spends a great deal of time researching
new music as it is released. This allows him to come up with new
mixes of music to keep all the different age groups attending his
events, entertained and on the dance floor.
Peter will arrive 90 minutes prior to his performance to set up
his pristine, state of the art sound system specific to your venue,
making sure all wires are out of sight and that he is in his tuxedo
and ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the arrival of your
guests. Peter always has 2 wireless handheld microphones that can
be used for toasts, speeches, performers or just glad tidings from
your guests. Peter will work closely with the catering staff, photographers,
videographers and coordinators, to make sure everyone is on the
same page when it comes to the timing of toasts, special dances,
cake cutting etc. This assures that your event will run smoothly
and that no important moments are missed by the photographers.
Peter is available to provide music and sound reinforcement for
your wedding ceremony as well. He will provide a separate sound
system with a wireless lapel microphone for the minister and groom
so that every word of the ceremony and vows can be clearly heard
by all of your guests. Peter can also provide additional microphones
for any special readings or vocalists as needed.
